Exhale Yoga Studio in Historic Stevensville, Maryland, was created to be a place of rejuvenation, where students can leave the outside world behind.  I teach a challenging and strengthening style of asana (posture practice), drawing heavily on the Ashtanga tradition, but incorporating a wide variety of yogic traditions gathered from my extensive studies in Ayurveda and with many extraordinary teachers of many yogic disciplines.  Small yoga classes allow me to modify the postures to address to the body alignment and physical needs of the individual student.

 

Pranayama (breath work), especially ujjayi breathing, is a primary focus of all Exhale Yoga classes.  I believe that learning to breathe properly and effectively is the best tool  I can give my students that  can be used immediately in their daily lives “off the mat” to reduce the physical effects of daily life stress and help them to reach balanced health.  Consistent pranayama practice is known to reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol and lower blood pressure levels.

 

Asana teaches mental and physical focus that ultimately helps us to be present in the precious moments of our daily lives and to burn impurities and strengthen our bodies, removing physical impediments to balanced health.  It is my intention that our sangha (yoga community) supports that journey in each and every one of you.
